Getting rid of excess fat is one of the common problems not just with women but with men as well. Even with proper diet and exercise there may still be some fats that you can’t get rid of. And thus, what immediately comes to mind for most people is getting liposuction. This is proven to be an effective way to get rid of unwanted fat. This procedure has become more common these days and you can find a lot of cosmetic surgeons who are offering this procedure. But there are still some people who have doubts about this because they are afraid of getting liposuction scars.

With the advancements in technology these days especially in the field of cosmetic surgery, it is not likely for the patient to have a liposuction scar. The incisions in liposuction these days are very small because small cannulas are used. Though scarring may occur, this will heal with time. However, in the case of using large cannulas which is done in traditional liposuction, this may result to visible scars. And those who have dark pigmented skin may also see some scars as well as those patients who scar easily. It would also depend on the surgeon and the technique used in the surgery.

There are basically two types of scars that can be associated to liposuction scarring. One is the true scar. The other type is called dyschromia which refers to the dark or light spot on the skin. What you have to understand is that incisions in the skin would normally result to scars. But these scars are not visible or may be strategically located so that it would not be easily seen. Most of these scars would also heal after some time. This is made possible with modern equipment and techniques used during surgery.

For you to avoid scars from liposuction, it is very important that you understand what procedure the surgeon will use. And for this, you would need a trusted surgeon who has the proper credentials and who had a lot of experience in this field. It would also help if you do your own research and find out if there are any negative feedbacks from previous clients. It is always best to consult first with your doctor especially if you have medical conditions that would result to complications and infections. Deciding whether or not you should have liposuction must be done carefully as this concerns your health and your body.
