Understanding the Procedure of Liposuction Flanks
Liposuction of flanks when performed with patient lying on his back may not be very effective especially when using general anesthesia. With general anesthesia, the patient will need to lie on his back because a breathing-tube will have to be inserted into the patient’s wind-pipe. And it is not advisable for the patient to be asked to roll onto his side since changing his position may also change the position of the breathing-tube which could affect the delivery of oxygen to the patient. Local anesthesia would be more ideal since there would be no risks if the patient will be asked to change position.
In the liposuction of the flanks, it may be ideal to have open drainage after the surgery. This means that the incision will not be sutured instead it will be left open. This is done to drain most of the solution used in the surgery so it will not remain in your system. This helps reduce swelling and bruising which mostly happens after the liposuction procedure. The patient will instead have to wear absorptive pads for the open drainage. Wearing elastic compression for a long time is also not necessary with an open drainage.
Liposuction is a lot more common these days. This may be because people are now more aware of what the procedure involves. And it is only natural for any person to want to look good and have a good body shape. Not necessarily a perfect body but a body you will feel good about. Having a good body also enhances a person’s self-esteem. But of course, it is always best to try diet and exercise first before considering surgery. If it doesn’t seem to work, you can consult with your doctor and see if flank liposuction is suitable for you.
