Feather Lift, An Updated Non-Surgical Face Lift

Author Timothy Carpenter    Category Face Lifts

Face lifts used to be a procedure that was exclusively surgical in the approach of lifting sagging skin back to their youthful and perky selves. With the help of ingenious minds, the ongoing development of technology, and the growing demand for non-surgical approaches in face lifting, this exclusively surgical procedure crossed over into the realm of non-surgical procedures. In 1999, a cosmetic surgeon released the feather lift as a non-surgical face lifting procedure.

The 1999 development wasn’t the first attempt made to radically change the concept of face lifting. In the past, gold threads were weaved into the tissues of the face in a specific pattern to lift sagging skin. This failed attempt of challenging the face lifting industry was picked up by Dr. Marlen Sulamanidze, a plastic surgeon from Moscow, who then created the feather facial lift out of it.

Though the feather face lift is still trying to win over customers in the United States, the procedure is already well-accepted in Europe and in South America. The procedure uses threads called aptos, which are made of polypropylene threads containing small cogs that are responsible in providing the lift and fixing the contour of the face. Unlike the failed version which used gold threads, the material with this one is a non-absorbable plastic.

The feather lift surgery involves the insertion of the aptos threads into the skin after being injected with a local anesthetic to numb. The insertion is made through the subcutaneous layer of the skin with a small needle. Where these threads will be placed depends on the area that needs a lift, and as little as three threads could noticeably pull back the skin on your cheeks. Other areas which the thread lift could be done include the jowls, the neck, and the upper brows. Over time, its results improve as new skin forms around the threaded areas.

The procedure takes only very little of your time, lasting less than an hour on average. Some minor swelling and bruising are the most that you could expect as a result of the non-surgical thread lift, which fade in just a few days. Comparing feather lift before and after photos, you would see that the procedure leaves no scars at all.

Feather lift is a great option for people that are deterred by surgical face lifts. Under a single, non-surgical session of aptos thread insertion, you can well-expect that the face lift results are permanent. Having only minimal downtime, you could go back to your regular routine soon after the swelling and bruises subside. And as it leaves no scars, the people surrounding you will be baffled by how much younger you’ve looked.
